Chinese political advisors holding their annual full meeting here have submitted more than 5,000 proposals for reference of various government departments, sources said here on Wednesday.

The ongoing Fourth Plenary Session of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top advisory body, had received a total of 5,030 proposals from the 2,200-strong participating advisors by 5 PM Wednesday, the deadline for proposal submission.

Most of the proposals have focused on issues inviting great public concerns or closely relating to public interests, such as the building of a "new socialist countryside," science and technology innovation, development of the non-public sectors, reform of public health system, environmental protection and efficient use of resources, said sources with the session's proposal-handling staffs.

Economy remains the hottest topic for the advisors, with some 44.9 percent of their proposals centering on economic issues, said the sources.

As usual, the advisors' proposals will be examined and sorted out by the proposal-handling staff before being referred to relevant government departments.

An earlier announcement by the 10th CPPCC National Committee said among the 4,660 proposals submitted to last year's CPPCC session, 4,496 were accepted and forwarded to relevant departments. By February 20 this year, 99.29 percent of the proposals had been properly handled with timely feedbacks to their submitters.
