China's rising stars shined on the red carpet of the New Power Awards yesterday in Beijing.
Hosted by Enlight Media's most successful program "Top Chinese Movies and TV", the event honors the new and young stars of television and cinema that represent the future of the Chinese entertainment industry.
The atmosphere at the event reached its peak when Yang Mi, lead actress of the home-grown blockbuster horror movie "Mysterious Island", and the "Mou Boy" Shawn Dou, star of Zhang Yimou's pure love movie "Under the Hawthorn Tree," appeared on the red carpet. The stars picked up the awards for most popular movie actor and actress respectively at the event.
Another big name on the winners' list was Li Yu, director of Fan Bingbing's award-winning movie "Buddha Mountain", who picked up the award for most popular director.
Zhang Yimou's epic war movie, "The Flowers of War," was voted the most anticipated movie among young people at the event.
