In 2012, dressed in a traditional Chinese bellyband, he opened the Spring Festival Gala, singing a Chinese children's folk song.

He then rose to fame in China and was nicknamed as the "Spring Festival Fuwa," which means "Spring Festival Lucky Baby."

He also performed in the 2013 Spring Festival Gala, together with his sister.

Deng was diagnosed with leukemia in February, 2013.

After five rounds of chemotherapy, he recovered from his illness and was discharged from hospital in August 2013.

However, his condition became worse in February this year, and the disease deprived him of his young life.

Deng's grandfather confirmed his death during an interview with Chinese website qq.com, and revealed that Deng Minghe will be buried in his hometown in Handan, north China's Hebei Province this afternoon.
