China generates over 18% of global GDP with only 6% of the world's freshwater resources, keeping its total water consumption under 610 billion cubic meters, an official of the Ministry of Water Resources said at a Friday press conference. The country has improved water use efficiency in agriculture and industry, and expanded the use of unconventional water resources such as reclaimed water.
