As the President of the Malaysian Translators Association (MTA) since 1997, Professor Emeritus Abdullah Hassan has been continuously involved in translation and training of translators in Malaysia and neighboring countries. As a linguist, he has also been active in the teaching and learning of the Malay language for more than 40 years. He was once professor of Malay language and communications at International Islamic University of Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, University of Malaya and Sultan Idris University of Education. He has written and published over 50 titles and hundreds of working papers and articles in the fields of translation, Malay language and linguistics, lexicography, and terminology.
