The seventh edition of the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) ended on Monday, with the film Sherpas the true heroes of Mt. Everest (also Qomolangma) being declared as the best.
The film depicts the hardships in the lives of the Sherpas.
"There were other good films in the competition. I am very happy that we won the prize. It was a great honor," local newspaper The Kathmandu Post cited Frank Senn, director of the film as saying.
Mount St. Elias, a 100-minute-long documentary, was declared the second best film. The film explores three ski mountaineers on their attempt to ski down the longest ski descent in the world.
The 52-minute-long Himalaya-A Path to the sky won the award for the third best film.
The five-day-long festival saw the screening of 59 films from 26 countries.
