Ann Hui's heart-warming drama "A Simple Life" has been named the best Hong Kong film of 2011, according to the Hong Kong Film Critics Society.
The film, which tells the story of a young man who decides to take care of his family's long-time nanny, won the title of best film at the 18th Annual Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards. Deanie Yip also picked up the award for best actress for her role as the nanny.
Deanie Yip received the award for best actress at the 2011 Venice Film Festival for the same role.
Jiang Wen was named best director by the Hong Kong Film Critics Society for his hugely popular gangster flick "Let the Bullets Fly".
The award for best actor went to Sean Lau Ching-wan for his performance as a small-time thug in Johnnie To's crime drama "Life without Principle".
The Hong Kong Film Critics Society also published its list of seven highly-recommended movies from 2011. That list includes: "Life without Principle", "Overheard 2", "Don't Go Breaking My Heart", "Flying Swords of Dragon Gate", "Let the Bullets Fly", "White Vengeance" and "Big Blue Lake".
