The recently released film "The Great Magician" celebrated its box office revenue success in Beijing yesterday, January 17th. After just five days of screening, the film has pulled in more than 90 million yuan (US$1.4 million), according to a report from Mtime.com.

Director Derek Yee attended the event, accompanied by actors Daniel Wu, Stephen Fung and Yan Ni.

In the film Daniel Wu plays a cameo role, which ends in death--the same fate as he had in his previous collaborations with Derek Yee in "Protege" and "One Night in Mongkok." Daniel revealed that in the future, Diversion Pictures (Fung and Wu's film company) is going to collaborate with Derek Yee to make a film about car racing.

"The preparation stage will last one year. The title of the film will be revealed in March," director Yee said. "Daniel Wu and Stephen Fung will be producers as well as leading roles in the film. And the leading actress is still being selected."

Director Yee made his name in Hong Kong directing both dramas and comedies, balancing commercial success with artistic integrity. His credits include "Lost in Time," "C'est La Vie" and "Protege".
