The Hong Kong-Mainland gangster film "Du Zhan", starring Louis Koo and Sun Honglei, directed by Johnny To and written by Wai Ka-Fai and Yau Nai-Hoi, held a wrap-up press conference in Beijing on April 28, Mtime.com reports.

Jointly-produced by the Hong Kong film production company Milkway Image and mainland company HaiRun Movies & TV, the movie marked Johnny To's first attempt at filming a gangster film on the mainland, touring cities like Tianjin, Guangzhou and Zhuhai.

Johnny To's longtime partner, screenwriter and director Wai Ka-Fai, said that the HK-Mainland cooperation had given him more freedom and space. "I wanted to write a nationwide story when I began to think of the script."

Johnny To agreed. "It's a fresh experience for me," he said. "'Du Zhan' is different from Hong Kong gangster films."

The co-stars Louis Koo and Sun Honglei are regarded as the highlight of the film, the second time for the actors to cooperate since their 2007 project, "The Iron Triangle".

Both kept their mouths shut when asked about their roles in the film at the conference.

"It can not be confirmed until the post-production is finished by the director," they said in unison.
