On May 9, renowned Hollywood daily Deadline reported that the Creative Artist Agency (CAA) had formally signed  Zhang Yimou. As CAA continues to bolster its artistic presence in China, the agency can now supposedly boast one of the country's leading filmmakers on its client list.

Upon taking note of the news, ifeng.com got in touch with Miss Pang, Zhang Yimou's assistant. Miss Pang, however, immediately moved to deny the signing rumors and replied by text, stating: "No. They did get in touch with us, but, until today, we have not yet signed any form of agreement."

Zhang's body of work includes the BAFTA- winning "Raise the Red Lantern", "Hero" and "House of Flying Daggers", as well as his most recent epic "Flowers of War", starring Christian Bale. His film "Ju Dou" became the first Chinese feature to be nominated for an Oscar, and he was also the wizard behind the unforgettable opening extravaganza for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
