"Hugo", the Hollywood blockbuster film from 2011, set its release date on the mainland for May 31, Mtime.com reports.

As director Martin Scorsese's first 3D project, "Hugo" received five Oscars—for Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Sound Editing, and it had the most nominations of the night, weighing in at 11 (including Best Picture).

"Hugo" also won two BAFTAs and was nominated for three Golden Globe Awards, earning Scorsese his third Golden Globe Award for Best Director.

The film is based on Brian Selznick's novel "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" about a boy who lives alone in a Paris railway station.
