A one-man adaptation of prominent Chinese writer Lao She's novel This Life of Mine will hit the stage in Guangzhou on April 19 and 20.

The play tells the tragic story of the life of a low-ranking policeman in Beijing in the early 20th century, integrating historical incidents with personal tragedies as the end of the imperial regime approaches.

With Shu Yi, Lao She's son, as consultant on the play, Beijing native Fang Xu brings the character to life with Beijing dialect and subtle body language.
