Books published to mark Xi Zhongxun's 100th birthday

China has published a series of books on Xi Zhongxun, a respected Communist elder and former vice-premier of China, to commemorate what would have been his 100th birthday.

Xi, who died aged 89 in 2002, was President Xi Jinping's father.

The books include 210 selections from the late revolutionary, 98 articles on recollections about him by his comrades in arms, colleagues and relatives, as well as hundreds of photographs featuring his work and life experiences.

The publication is aimed to commemorate and promote his achievements, revolutionary spirit and leading examples.

Xi Zhongxun's 100th birthday would have been on Tuesday, October 15.
