The first 'Create Change' Design Forum opens in Beijing on Sept. 26, 2014. Sponsored by the U.S.'s Art Center College of Design, one of the world's top design academies, the three-day forum will focus on the creative process and design thinking in addition to offering knowledge and insight into emerging stars in China's culture industry.

"As China is shifting from 'made in China' to 'created in China,' design innovation is an important drive in this process. And Art Center has a long reputation for working with international companies. We would like to share its long history of professional design expertise here in China," said Mark Breitenberg, special assistant to the president of Art Center, at the opening ceremony for the forum.

The forum includes three sessions, focusing respectively on automotive design, branding and design strategy, and visual storytelling. All of these are the fast-growing professional fields in China's creative industry. Prominent Art Center alumni such as CEO of Eight Inc. Tim Kobe, head of design at BMW Chris Bangle and concept designer for 'Avatar' Neville Page will teach and speak at the sessions. This is the first time that Art Center has brought its brand, design expertise and teaching methods to China.

Beijing now has more than 20,000 design colleges and companies, and 25,000 designers. The annual revenue of the design industry has surpassed 120 billion yuan (US$ 19.5billion), and it is estimated to reach 200 billion yuan (US$32.6 billion) by 2020.
