Maggie Cheung became the first Chinese and Asian actress to win a prize at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in French film "Clean" by Olivier Assayas. Wong Kar-wai's "2046" was nominated for the Golden Palm at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.
