China International Publishing Group (CIPG) was founded in 1949 with a mission to introduce China to foreign countries through books, magazines and websites. CIPG has over 20 subsidiaries as well as 22 overseas branches located in the United States, Canada, Britain, Germany, France, Belgium, Russia, Egypt, South Africa, Mexico, Peru, Turkey, Japan and Hong Kong, constituting a conglomerate of foreign language publishing and marketing, Internet and multimedia business, theoretical studies and social undertakings.

Currently CIPG ranks first domestically in the field of foreign-language publishing in terms of languages covered, variety of publications, and distribution range. Among many areas addressed, the main focuses are books on today's China, Chinese culture, basic facts about China, and language learning for non-Chinese speakers.
