Audience at the Sarajevo National Theatre emotionally connect with actors performing ballet written on the traditional Bosnia and Herzegovinian (BiH) ballad "Omer and Merima" on Tuesday late night.

There were an explosion of verve and ten minutes ovations among the audience after the last moment of the play.

Omer and Merima is one of the most beautiful BiH ballads which is at the very top of BiH folk poetry. It tells a story about the death of Omer and Merima, a symbol of the destiny of a young man and woman, who were destined to be in love but only in death.

The boy loved Merima with all his heart, but due to the impossibility to oppose his mother's desire to marry him with a girl he does not love, and sad because of the separation with Merima, he chose to die.

The story shows hopes, expectations of the dreams that never came true, and is a metaphor of one universal love.

"Omer and Merima is the true gem of the BiH tradition. I think that everyone, no matter how old they are, should watch it," Amer Konakovic told Xinhua.

Extremely emotional ballad reviews the image of BiH from the beginning of 19th century, bringing the sincerest feelings through dance and movements.

"I very much liked the dresses dancers wore, especially the women ballerinas who wore BiH traditional dresses and in the same time, they were dancing very difficult dance. I am impressed," Alma Terzic, a music professor in one of the schools in Sarajevo told Xinhua.
