More than 500 rare cultural relics from the famed Al Thani Collection are currently on display at the Palace Museum in Beijing.

The Al Thani Collection, assembled by Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Thani, a member of Qatar's ruling family, is known for its exceptional Indian and Indian-inspired gems and jewelry.

The exhibition, which will run till June 18, consists of two parts, namely "Gems and Jewels from India" and "Masterpieces from a Royal Collection."

"Gems and Jewels from India" showcases Indian jewelry starting from the Mughal Empire established in the 16th century. "Masterpieces from a Royal Collection" presents items covering 5,000 years of history from worldwide civilizations.

The Palace Museum also chose five pieces from its own collection to join the exhibition, echoing Qatar's items, said Shan Jixiang, curator of the Palace Museum.
