A play promoting basic knowledge on finance for construction workers along the Belt and Road was staged at Beijing's Tongzhou District Culture Center on May 28.

The play, "Utopia Café," was performed by six artists from the Central Academy of Drama, with vivid and humorous acts on financial fraud prevention. About 500 local college students and construction workers in Tongzhou district attended the show.

The Belt and Road Initiative was first introduced in September 2013 during a visit by President Xi Jinping to Kazakhstan. In recent years, countries along the Belt and Road route have deepened people-to-people exchanges, while seeing an increasing number of construction workers contributing to the massive initiative.

In response, the China Social Welfare Foundation and the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) joined hands to launch a project promoting basic knowledge and policies on finance for construction workers participating in the initiative, in a bid to strengthen ties between people and the linking up of cultures.

According to the officials from the China Social Welfare Foundation, in the future, the play will travel to Tianjin, Chongqing, Hong Kong and other Chinese cities, as well as the countries along the Belt and Road route, such as Thailand and Vietnam.
