A photo exhibition being held in Taiwan aims to increase exchanges between Taiwan and the Chinese mainland.

The exhibition, which features pictures taken by photographers from Taiwan and the northwestern province of Shaanxi, depicts the landscape, culture and economic development of Shaanxi. About 200 pictures are being shown.

Among the pictures, about 100 were taken by Taiwanese photographers, who went to Shaanxi during April and May.

"We hope that via such exhibitions, there will be more exchanges between artists," Lin Tsai-shen, with the exhibition’s organizer, said at the event’s opening ceremony Sunday in New Taipei City. "We also hope that the exhibition gives people in Taiwan a deeper understanding of Shaanxi’s culture. "

The exhibition will last until June 30 in New Taipei City, before moving to Changhua County permanently.
