Film on Yangtze river resuce team planned

Stories about a voluntary rescue team operating along the Yangtze River in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province, will be adapted into a feature-length film to better promote modern grassroots heroes, it was announced in Beijing on Friday.

The team was founded in 2010 by some swimmers and now includes 1,500 volunteers.

More than 500 people been saved since the team was formed. And thestories are known nationwide through media reports.

This rescue team was honored by China's volunteers' association, and the media and publicity department of the CPC Central Committee.

The film, titled Chang Jiang Jiu Yuan ("Rescue in the Yangtze River"), will be co-produced by Xinhuanet.com, which is an arm of Xinhua News Agency; Wuhan's city publicity department and film companies in Beijing.

Shooting of the film will begin soon, and this production will hit cinemas nationwide in late 2019.
