The annual Beijing Fashion Week will raise its curtain on Sept. 15 and run through Sept. 22, with activities to be held in Beijing's cultural landmarks such as the Forbidden City, the Imperial Ancestral Temple and Wangfujing.

This year's fashion week, the third of its kind, is expected to be the largest so far. According to the organizing committee, the weeklong festival will feature 35 fashion shows, three forums, three themed exhibitions and five competitions. It will present works created by more than 150 designers from China and around the world.

Beijing Fashion Holdings Co., Ltd, an organizer of the Beijing Fashion Week, said the most distinctive feature this year will be the fusion of fashion and culture.

"This year's fashion week will focus on conveying Beijing's cultural confidence and fashion vibe," said an executive at the company.

Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology will partner with Vip.com, an online fashion vendor, to put on an exhibition at the National Agricultural Exhibition Center, along with other fashion activities, to highlight China's intangible heritages.

The fashion week will also include activities that engage with local citizens. For instance, fashion parties, performances and interactive activities will be held at Chaoyang Joy City where citizens can participate in.

Many designers will bring their new labels to the fashion week. On Sept. 18, the Fangheng International Center will hold a fashion show to showcase works created by designers from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
