A Guinness world record for "most people painting vases simultaneously" was achieved Sunday in Jingdezhen, east China's Jiangxi Province.

A total of 1,131 potters painted for two hours Sunday on ceramic vases during a local event held at a stadium in Jingdezhen, also dubbed as China's ceramic capital.

The painting covered three fifth of the vase surface and contained at least two colors.

Witnessed by Marco Frigatti, general manager of the Greater China region for Guinness and certification officer Wu Xiaohong, the event was awarded the record certificate.

Jingdezhen boasts a pottery production history of more than 1,000 years. Unique climate and clay in the area made its ceramic products a popular royal tribute in ancient China. Today, it is a magnet to many ceramic artists from both China and abroad.
