China will celebrate its National Day very soon, and in Chicago, local students and their parents are enjoying a taste of China as a grand festival is taking place in the city.

The Whitney Yang public school, located in the center of Chicago, is decorated with red lanterns, Chinese knots and beautiful kites, and the students have been showcasing their skills in calligraphy, traditional Chinese music, and paper cutting.

"It's a beautiful culture. It's very beautiful. I wish I had known about it more when I was younger," said one parent.

A student said, "I like Chinese culture because I like all types of Chinese dances, all the activities and the music and all the decorations...."

Chicago Art Museum has brought in a model of a bronze plate and encouraged students to try their hand at an ancient form of printing.

"This year, the culture festival coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holiday. So people are pretty excited. I think more and more Americans would like to get to know more about Chinese culture as China develops," said Yang Jingyue, headmaster of the Chicago Confucius Institute.

This year's Chinese Culture Festival is being held by the Confucius Institute in Chicago, the Chicago public school district and the Confucius Institute affiliated to the Valparaiso University in Indiana.
