American mezzo-soprano and multi-Grammy Award winner Joyce DiDonato will work with II Pomo d'Oro to present the "In War and Peace" Concert next Friday at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing.

The upcoming concert features theatrical performance, dance and a multimedia presentation and is divided into two parts, "War" and "Peace," according to an NCPA statement.

In the first half, DiDonato will express revengeful fears, inner chaos and frustrating battles through such arias as "Scenes of Horror, Scenes of Woe (Storge)" and "Lascia Ch'io Pianga" by George Frideric Handel and "Dido's Lament" by Henry Purcell.

For the second half, she will present works including "They Tell Us That Your Mighty Powers" by Purcell, "Augelletti, Che Cantate" and "Dopo Notte" by Handel, said the NCPA.

DiDonato, Il Pomo d'Oro and its Principal Conductor Maxim Emelyanychev first performed the concert in 2016 and later collaborated with Warner Classics International to record the album "In War & Peace," which won the 2017 Best Recital Gramophone Award.
