5. Avengers: Infinity War

Marvel Studios' "Avengers: Infinity War" represented a peak among all those superhero films ever screened in China, after a decade of accumulation of various stand-alone and Avengers assembling superhero films, with which Disney carefully built a movie universe and huge fanbase. The Anthony and Joe Russo-directed all-star-cast "Avengers: Infinity War" became the fastest superhero box office hit in China despite its late release in the world's second largest market. It took a staggering 1.27 billion yuan (US$200 million) in three days after its debut in Chinese theaters on May 11. The Hollywood tentpole blockbuster eventually grossed 2.39 billion yuan (US$359.54 million) in China and has become the 10th highest grossing film of all time in the market, and the second-highest grossing imported foreign film of all time, second only to "The Fate of the Furious" which made 2.67 billion yuan (US$392.8 million). It was indeed very sad for many fans to see their heroes die or vanish after a finger snap of villain Thanos in this grand, entertaining but tragic flick. However, the climax is yet to come and the fate of many characters yet to be determined. The sequel "Avengers: Endgame" is about to hit screen in 2019 and may hit fans even harder.
