Taiwan libraries see sharp rise in e-book borrowers

The number of people borrowing e-books in Taiwan's libraries rose 30.83 percent year-on-year to 1.74 million in 2018, according to a report released by the Taiwan Library Monday.

Public libraries on the island recorded a total of 91.98 million visits by readers, up 6.68 percent from 2017, said the report on the island's reading habits.

A total of 77.91 million books were borrowed by readers in 2018, an increase of 3.98 percent year on year. Of those books, 26.02 percent were borrowed by readers aged 35-44, and 49.95 percent were language and literature books, the report said.
