Zambian artists are considering creating linkages with the Chinese theater houses to help advance and progress in film production in the southern African nation, a lobby body for artists said on Thursday.

Evans Kalandanya, chairman of Chingola Arts Society, said the Chinese theater houses were much advanced hence the need to learn from them in various areas such as in film technology and skills.

"Zambian art industry is still at its infancy stage, we need other foreign art groups to consider partnering with us, I should say the Chinese art industry can be one of the best options," he said.

Kalandanya said his organization was open to partner with any Chinese theater houses to improve on the local film production, adding that there was an urgency to forge partnership with Chinese in various industries which include the art.

"China is a friend of Zambia in various economic sectors and we want to ensure that there is partnerships and exchange of programs in the development of the art industry in the country for the benefit of Zambians," he said.

Zambia's Ministry of Tourism and Arts said in January the southern African nation values the importance of culture in building people-to-people relations and was keen to learn from cultures of other countries like China.
