Poster exhibition offers Nepalese insight into China's Hunan culture

A month-long poster exhibition on China's Hunan Culture kicked off on Saturday, offering Nepalese an opportunity to gain an insight into the rich and abundant history and culture of China's Hunan Province.

The exhibition under the theme "Fascinating Hunan" was inaugurated at Nepal Art Council in Kathmandu amid the presence of art enthusiasts, students and people representing different walks of life.

The event hosted by China Cultural Center in Nepal and Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism brings the profound Chinese culture closer to the Nepalese people, deepening cultural exchanges and promoting cooperation between the two countries.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi said "I am hopeful that the exhibition will offer an opportunity to the Nepalese people to understand the beauty and diversity of Hunan Province."

On the occasion, Member of Parliament of Nepal and Former Minister Mahesh Basnet said that such events are important to enhance people to people relations between Nepal and China.

"Besides the major cultural features, the exhibition provides information about economic and physical infrastructures development of Hunan province. It has helped us to know Hunan from closer," Basnet said.

The poster exhibition consists of two sections, Hunan-themed posters created by 20 internationally renowned designers, and award winning art works of "Magnificent Hunan" Cultural Posters Contest 2018.

According to the organizers, the posters embody the characteristics of Hunan culture from different angles, pursuit of the ideal with perseverance and entrepreneurship, life attitude of advocacy for science and selfless dedication, and its temperament of diligence, simplicity, honesty and self-confidence.

The exhibition of all 60 posters will be held at Nepal Art Council for two-days, while the posters will be kept at display in China Cultural Center in Kathmandu till May 12.
