Four films by acclaimed Taiwan director Lee Hsing are being screened in Beijing as part of a cross-Strait film show.
The opening ceremony was held Monday at the China Film Archive.
The films to be screened were all released in the 1970s and 1980s, including crime drama "Execution in Autumn" and romance "Once Again With Love."
Lee was born in Shanghai in 1930 and settled down in Taiwan in 1948. He has directed and produced more than 60 films in his career. In the 1960s, Lee was considered a leader of a film genre that portrayed the life of everyday people in Taiwan. "The Story of a Small Town" was among his most successful films.
In recent years, Lee has been active in promoting cross-Strait cultural exchanges. Film shows featuring Lee's works were held in Beijing in 2009 and 2015.
