A talent show was staged at Beijing Daxing Theater on Thursday, displaying the district's history and culture, while promoting the district's tourism sector.

The show, comprised of four parts, was given in chronological order. It was designed to showcase the changes in resident's lives over the past seven decades since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and the prospects of the district's development after the opening of the Beijing Daxing International Airport.

All the performances, including choruses, dancing, rapping and magic tricks, featured ordinary local residents, who were winners of a local contest.

The contest, which has been held three times since 2017, aims to offer a platform for the public to showcase their talents, increase their confidence in local culture and promote the development of Daxing's culture and tourism industries.

This year's contest attracted nearly 3,000 participants from all the 22 towns and subdistricts of Daxing as well as neighboring areas, according to Daxing's culture and tourism bureau.

Zhou Jing, member of the leadership of the bureau, said Daxing will continue to improve cultural services, encourage more residents to participate in cultural activities and create more cultural wealth to meet people's ever-increasing needs for a better life.

Daxing district, located in the southern part of Beijing, boasts a history of more than 2,400 years. It has various tourist attractions, such as Beijing Wildlife Zoo, the Chinese Culture Garden and Nanhaizi Milu Garden.
