Two films on the Liberation War premiered Monday in Beijing amid the recent patriotic passion among Chinese mainland moviegoers.

The movies "Towards the River Glorious" and "The Moment of the Sunrise" recall two important battles in 1949, focusing on the ordinary soldiers and young people during the Liberation War.

They will hit movie theaters nationwide soon.

In the past few weeks, patriotic films have dominated Chinese theaters and generated billions in box office revenue, with three key movies, namely "My People, My Country," "The Captain" and "The Climbers," raking in 2.63 billion yuan (about 367 million U.S. dollars), 2.49 billion yuan and 999 million yuan, respectively, according to the China Movie Data Information Network.

The trio of patriotic films' box office success indicates audiences' recognition of the filmmakers' innovative and enterprising spirit in artistic creation. Also, the national feeling displayed in the movies echoes the rising patriotic passion among the Chinese people, said Sun Xianghui, director of the China Film Art Research Center.

This year marks the 70th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China.
