World Music Days 2019 opens in Beijing

The World Music Days 2019, a five-day event with concerts, music workshops and academic seminars, opened on Thursday in Beijing.

The series of activities are jointly hosted by the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) and the China Soong Ching Ling Science & Culture Center for Young People. The key items on the agenda are "Africa and the World" International Symposium on Music and the Youth World Music Education Exchange Exhibition.

Musicians and experts from Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Ghana, India, Indonesia, the United States and Canada will stage a variety of musical performances and exchange ideas about music research and education.

Since its inception in 2015, the World Music Days has been held nine times, enhancing music exchanges among more than 20 countries. This year's event aims to promote cooperation on the teaching of music and research between China and other countries, deepen mutual understanding and offer a learning platform for students interested in world music.
