Media, film and TV organizations of various countries should uphold the spirit of openness, inclusiveness and equal cooperation to expand exchanges and cooperation, a Chinese official said Wednesday.

Wu Baoan, director general of the General Office in National Radio and Television Administration, made the remarks at an event to promote Chinese film and TV programs in Africa at DISCOP Africa 2019 in Johannesburg.

"The purpose of holding this event today is to celebrate Sino-African TV program and promote people-to-people exchanges and mutual understanding between China and Africa," said Wu.

He pointed out that with a number of TV drama series such as "Beautiful daughter-in-law" and "A bite of China" that have aired in some African countries, it offered African audiences a "glance into Chinese people's lives."

Wu expressed his hope that "African and other foreign media organizations could work with Chinese counterparts to build up and strengthen their cooperation ties in the content exchange and co-production."

Launched in 2008, DISCOP Africa is the most influential TV commercial exhibition in Africa and an important window for communication between Africa and the rest of the world.

The three-day exhibition attracted more than 1,000 TV professionals from more than 100 countries and regions.
