China Today magazine on Friday launched a reading club in Lebanon, in a bid to enhance communication between the magazine and its Lebanese readers.

The launching was attended by head of the political section at the Chinese Embassy in Lebanon Tan Yan, as well as representatives from the magazine and journalists.

Wang Maohu, deputy chief editor of the magazine, emphasized the importance of the new step, saying that China relies on different means to improve communication with the Arab region.

He explained that China Today magazine is published monthly in different languages and it aims at giving a realistic picture about the economic, social, cultural, scientific and touristic aspects of China.

Meanwhile, Mahmoud Raya, editor-in-chief of "China in Arab Eyes" news website, said the magazine should be distributed in an effective way in Lebanon to reach more people.

He added that the magazine will fill the gap created by the shutdown of some publications in Lebanon amid the financial crisis.
