"The Wandering Earth," based on a Chinese science fiction novel by Hugo Award-winning author Liu Cixin, topped the China Film Critics Association's list of the 10 Domestic Films of the Year for 2019.

The sci-fi blockbuster was followed immediately by "Better Days," a film on campus bullying, "Ne Zha," an animated fantasy adventure featuring the Chinese mythological character of the same name, and "My People, My Country," a film recalling historical moments over the past seven decades in China, according to the list carried by China Film News.

"So Long, My Son," which won its stars Wang Jingchun and Yong Mei the best actor and actress awards at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2019 and was hailed by critics as a breakthrough for Chinese art house films, made it onto the list.

Also on the list are "The Captain," "The Wild Goose Lake," "Jinpa," "The Climbers" and "Red Flowers and Green Leaves."
