Hit drama "A Little Red Flower" led China's daily box office chart for the 21st consecutive day on Wednesday, accounting for a quarter of the market's total daily earnings of nearly 43 million yuan (about 6.6 million U.S. dollars).

Top earner at China's box office since its release on New Year's Eve, the movie saw its total earnings cross the 1.2 billion yuan mark earlier this week, data compiled by China Movie Data Information Network showed.

Movie-ticketing and film data platform Maoyan on Thursday forecasted the total earnings of the heartwarming film to reach 1.37 billion yuan in China.

Crime thriller "Shock Wave 2," ranked second, and romantic-comedy "Warm Hug," placed third -- both domestic productions -- accounted for around one-fifth and 15 percent of Wednesday's box office total, respectively.

China's 2020 box office came in at 20.4 billion yuan, with all top 10 earners being domestic productions, official figures showed.
