'Urban artist' paints public parking spaces with graffiti

In Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, many public parking spaces have gotten new looks thanks to attractive graffiti patterns.
Grasslands, deserts, cartoon characters... These were created by 34-year-old urban artist Guo Hanyuan.
"I started the graffiti this summer because I wanted to add some elements of people's lives to the parking spaces. I first painted a dozen and the first one was pretty popular. Then I kept on painting even in searing temperatures," said Guo.
Guo was born in Ordos and went to his first painting course at the age of seven. He studied at the Central Academy of Fine Art and decided to go back to his hometown for more opportunities from its modernization. Since 2012, he has drawn inspiration from local scenes and landmark buildings.
While painting, he also uploads his works online and his motifs gradually change from real life to imagination.
The local government also appreciates Guo's paintings and has signed an initial contract with him on 1,000 public parking spaces.
