The Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center will stage three productions at Tianqiao Performing Arts Center in Beijing from April to May. The three productions —I Don't Want to Be Friends With You, Wilderness and Wave — are all directed by He Nian, who is also known for directing movies and TV dramas.

He, born in 1980 in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, graduated from the directing department of the Shanghai Theater Academy and is now director of the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center.

Wave premiered last year to celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. It tells the story of patriotic martyrs Rou Shi, Hu Yepin, Li Qiushi, Feng Keng and Yin Fu, members of the League of Left-wing Writers.

Wilderness was adapted from the masterpiece by Cao Yu, a renowned Chinese playwright. It is a story about revenge in the Chinese countryside.

I Don't Want to Be Friends With You is a comedy adapted from the TV series of the same name which tells the story of a high school student named Li Jinbu, who travels through time and space to return to the past and meet her mother Li Qingtong in her youth.
