Macao's gaming revenues continued to rise in September 2010, as the monthly figure rose by 39.8 percent year-on-year to 15.3 billion patacas (1.91 billion U.S. dollars), the Macao Post Daily reported on Tuesday.
The newspaper quoted the statistics released by Macao's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau as saying that last month's growth rate was close to the one in August, which stood at 40 percent, slowing from the higher growth rates in the first seven months of the year.
According to the figures, the gross receipts in the first nine months rose 60.1 percent year-on-year to 133.2 billion patacas (16. 65 billion U.S. dollars), exceeding those for the whole of last year, which stood at a record 119.4 billion patacas (14.92 billion U.S. dollars).
Analysts told Macao Post Daily that they expected Macao's gross gaming receipt to grow 34 percent year-on-year in the second half, slowing from the first half's 66.9 percent rise.
Being the only place in China where gambling is legal, there were 33 casinos with 4,828 gaming tables and 14,659 slot machines in Macao by the end of June 2010, according to official figures.
