Canada approves Malaysian firm's takeover of Progress Energy

The Canadian government approved on Friday a 5.2-billion Canadian dollar (5.3 billion U.S. dollars) bid by Malaysia's Petronas to take over the north American country 's gas producer Progress Energy Resources.
