Chinese shares closed mixed Wednesday, as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index increased 0.16 percent, or 3.59 points, to end at 2,301.26.

The Shenzhen Component Index lost 0.02 percent, or 1.51 points, to 9,225.13.
