Al-Maktoum International, Dubai's second airport under construction and designed to be the world's biggest by 2030, will launch passenger services as of Oct. 27, 2013, local media reported Wednesday.
The airport, also called Dubai World Central, will open five runways for commercial airliners.
While the current Dubai International Airport, hosting about 57. 7 million passengers, became the third biggest airport in the world last year, the new one, whose name is derived from Dubai's ruling family Al-Maktoum, is planned to grow to the world's biggest hub for civil aviation.
