Pakistan is expected to become the fourth overseas buyer of the Beidou navigation system later this month, China Daily reported.
Beijing BDStar Navigation, which helps promote Beidou on the international market, will create a network of stations across Pakistan to enhance the location accuracy of Beidou, according to Huang Lei, international business director of the company.
The project is expected to be signed during the second half of this May as a strategic cooperation move between two countries.
At present, the system has been delivering its services to the Asia-Pacific region, aiming to provide a full-fledged global service by 2020.
The system's international promotion is currently going through its user experience stage and these inter-governmental cooperation and aid programs can pave the way for future commercial cooperation, Huang said.
He said Pakistan, Thailand and India are three major potential Beidou users, which the company will provide with customized service according to their respective demands.
Experts estimate the system can trigger a potential market worth 200 billion yuan across China by 2015, and additionally they see a huge potential market outside of the country.
Ran Chengqi, spokesman for the China Satellite Navigation Office, said China had already sent 16 navigation satellites and four experimental satellites into space, with another 40 satellites to be launched in the next decade. By that time, the Beidou navigation system will be able to provide global services.
