The Mexico-China (Guangdong) Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference was held in Mexico City, capital of Mexico, on May 16, 2016. This is another step forward for the Guangdong-Mexico economic and trade cooperation, opening up a new chapter of friendly relations and cooperation between Guangdong and the State of Mexico.

During the conference, Hu Chunhua, Party secretary of Guangdong Province, gave a keynote speech. Roger Leo Garza, deputy minister of the Ministry of Economy in Mexico and Qiu Xiaoqi, Chinese ambassador to Mexico, attended the conference and delivered speeches. Also, 18 projects covering economy, trade and services were signed at the scene, with the contractvalue reaching 460 million US dollars. The conference will build a platform for mutual benefit and co-development between both China and Mexico's businesses.

Hu Chunhua put forward five proposals to further strengthen exchange and cooperation, including promoting close personnel exchange, fostering interconnection and interworking, improving the level of trade, strengthening investment cooperation and deepening cooperation in tourism.

"We are willing to cooperate with Guangdong Province. We have set up an economic development zone in the south of our country, focusing on manufacturing, electrical equipment, the auto mobile and energy industries. We have also shown interest in investing in the software industry and biotechnology in China," said Roger Leo Garza in his speech.

The Hengqin experience sharing session was also held during the event. Niu Jing, director of the Management Committee of Hengqin, introduced the area to the participants.

"Hengqin is actively pushing forward the planning of the China-Latin America economic and trade cooperation park. Three platforms and three centers will be created, which are the China-Latin America international commodity trading platform, cross-border e-commerce cooperation platform and financial cooperation service platform, as well as the China-Latin America promotion center for cultural tourism and leisure, enterprises' legal services center and policy research and innovation center. We hope to promote bilateral trade and bring greater benefits to Latin American entrepreneurs," stressed Niu.
