SSACEIF concludes in Kunming

The 2017 South and Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair (SSACEIF) concluded in Kunming, capital city of Yunnan Province, on June 18. A total of 389 project contracts were signed with their value totaling nearly 500 billion yuan (US$ 73.25 billion).

New development potential was explored in the sectors of agriculture, chemical industry, new energy, tourism, culture, internet information, logistics, health and trade, according to a news briefing held at the end of the expo.

With a theme of "Jointly creating new opportunities and seeking new development," the one-week expo and fair was attended by over 4,000 enterprises from 33 Belt and Road countries and regions, and 86 countries and regions globally.

Multilateral diplomacy, economic ties and cultural exchanges were greatly enhanced among China, South and Southeast Asian countries through commodity exhibitions, trade negotiations, dialogues and cooperative forums.

According to released statistics, contracts signed during the Expo include for 357 domestic investment projects valued at 488 billion yuan, 32 foreign investment projects valued at 10.7 billion yuan, and four overseas investment projects valued at 3.5 billion yuan.

The exhibition attracted a total of 500,000 visitors, among whom were 6,000 professional buyers, concluding on-the-spot purchase deals worth 200 million yuan.

Sideline activities included the China-South/Southeast Asia Arts Week, the 12th China-South Asia Business Forum, the First China-Southeast Asia Business Forum, the 15th ASEAN Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Conference, the Summit on Marine Bio-resources Protection and Utilization and the Cross-Border Tourism Cooperation Forum.

These activities, centering on connectivity, think tank communications, economic cooperation and cultural exchanges, were all concluded successfully, according to the news briefing.

According to Liu Qilin, vice-director of the executive committee of the 2017 SSACEIF and director of Yunnan International Exposition Bureau, as an important platform for regional dialogue, economic cooperation and cultural exchanges, SSACEIF this year developed new platforms and offered new opportunities for enhancing communications, promoting friendliness and deepening cooperation between China and South and Southeast Asian countries.
