According to the latest list of China's top 100 foreign trading cities released by China Customs, Zhuhai ranked in 5th place, with only Shenzhen, Shanghai, Dongguan and Suzhou ranked higher. The list also reflects Zhuhai's competitiveness in the level, returns, prospects and development of foreign trade.

As for the level of trade, Zhuhai has a higher per capita volume of imports and exports over most cities. This shows that the city' economy is heavily dependent on foreign trade.

In terms of development of foreign trade competitiveness, regarding the two main indicators, namely the per capita amount of FDI utilzed and the per capita import amount of foreign-invested equipment, reflects Zhuhai's leading role in opening to the world and its great ability to attract foreign investment.

In relation to prospects, Zhuhai is ahead in industrial infrastructure, land and water transport as well as labor quality. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao greater bay area and Hengqin New Area are injecting vitality to the future of Zhuhai's foreign trade.
