Changan Ford Automobile Co. Ltd., a joint venture between China's Changan Automobile and American automaker Ford, will recall more than 560,000 cars in China due to defective brake hoses, authorities said Friday.

The recall involves over 370,000 new Mondeo models manufactured between January 2013 and December 2016, and nearly 200,000 Edge models produced between September 2014 and January 2017, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

The materials of the break hoses in these vehicles are not durable enough and could lead to safety hazards under extreme circumstances, the administration said.

Changan Ford will start to recall the cars from Feb. 25 and replace the brake hoses free of charge, it said.
