EDF Energies Nouvelles, the renewable energy arm of French state-controlled utility giant EDF, announced Wednesday to establish a joint venture with clean energy investor Asia Clean Capital (ACC), aiming at rooftop solar projects in China.

In a joint statement, the two partners said the joint venture will benefit from ACC's local footprint in distributed solar energy and from EDF Energies Nouvelles' international distributed solar energy and self-consumption expertise solutions for industries.

Asia Clean Capital is a leading clean energy solutions developer that serves large multinational and domestic firms in China.

EDF Energies Nouvelles CEO Bruno Fyot said his company was committed to using its expertise in distributed renewable energy in France and in the U.S., as well as EDF's historic presence in the Chinese electricity market to develop and expand this joint venture with ACC.

Thomas Lapham, CEO of Asia Clean Capital, pledged to tap "respective advantages and help more companies generate and use green electricity".
