The figure, representing an increase of 14.5 percent year on year, accounted for more than 10 percent of the city's GDP last year, according to figures released at the ongoing 14th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industrial Fair.

Shenzhen is home to more than 50,000 cultural and creative companies, with more than 900,000 employees. The city has 17 national level cultural industrial platforms, parks and bases.
